Our head baker and owner, Christina Burke has expressed her love of desserts and letting her creativity shine through in several aspects of Sugarkissed.
Christina went to Central Michigan University for fashion and always enjoyed time baking with family and friends. While in college she spent seven months at Walt Disney World for an internship. Her time there became her inspiration for her store. Once she finished school and decided fashion was not the path she wanted to follow, she started experimenting even more with different desserts. It took some trial and error and lots of taste testing to get the product right. While coming up with a business plan, she took her business to the next level by doing events and trying to get the name out there.
In the summer of 2011, that great spot came along on Front Street in Traverse City, Michigan. After almost a year of designing and constructing the store, we opened with a wide variety of homemade and baked everyday from scratch desserts and Traverse City’s first frozen yogurt bar.
Sugarkissed is a place Christina wants you to come in, get away from the “hustle and bustle” of life and enjoy a delectable dessert. We are adding desserts to our menu every month, always coming up with something new and keeping up with the trends. Some desserts are seasonal, such as our Gourmet Hot Chocolate Bar, but most we offer year-round.
