slow down, you crazy child

The summer months always fly by in the blink of an eye. We get consumed with the consistency of tourists and locals alike sweeping in and out, day by day. You get in the routine of survival mode. Unlock the door, take a few deep breaths, run around like a crazy person for 12 hours and lock the door. That’s on repeat for months straight, luckily we serve coffee because that caffeine buzz is what gets me through the day. I barely get the time to gather my own thoughts. And then it ends and you celebrate and reflect on the accomplishments you didn’t have any time to think about. It’s a true adrenaline rush! And now we are onto our slow down time and it has given me time to think about why I love going through this everyday.

When it comes down to it, I truly love creating. It’s what drives me to keep going. And creating sugarkissed is only one piece of the puzzle and my story. This creation has allowed me to share my passion with every single person that walks through the door. Now I want to share not only beyond but also behind those doors.

What drives every recipe? Well sometimes it’s what I am craving. Other times it’s a friend gathering or a family member’s celebration. Sometimes my dog, Lulu, inspires me. She’s a great taste tester too! Don’t worry all dog friendly morsels, of course. And even though I don’t want to admit or it to define me, my auto-immune disease decides what my body needs. All of these play a role in what I cook and create everyday, it’s way beyond that colorful cafe I call home most days.

So my way of slowing down, is still sharing my creations with you. Over the winter, I always continue to perfect and come up with new ideas. Now I’m ready to share them with you. Stay tuned for recipes and fun videos to keep in touch!

And as always, live colorfully!
